Rebecca Click, MA, BCBA is the Director of Autism Services for Behavior Healthcare Services. As a BCBA for over 10 years, she has provided services across many different behaviors, skill levels, and settings. Beginning with her training at West Virginia University as an undergraduate and continuing as a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, she has received training from some of the most influential people in the field of Behavior Analysis. At Lonestar Solutions, Rebecca manages the development and implementation of the Autism Solutions program for both the pre-school and home/community-based services. She also provides supervision for other Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Associate Behavior Analysts, and students completing programs to qualify them to become certified.

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science that is based upon systematically applying the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968). Through thousands of empirically-based research studies it is the only scientifically-proven intervention for people diagnosed on the autism spectrum (United States Surgeon General, 1998). At LoneStar solutions, we are excited for the opportunity to provide effective ABA services to the Arlington area with our well-trained staff, including two Board Certified Behavior Analysts.

Current Autism Facts

Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the United States according to U. S. Department of Education with the prevalence being higher than childhood diabetes, Down Syndrome and childhood cancer combined. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention autism affects 1 in every 100 children (1 in 70 for males) with prevalence statistics continuing to increase.

Autism is four times more likely to occur in males than in females
Autism knows no racial, ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries
25%–30% of children diagnosed with autism have some words at 12-18 months of age and then lose them
The average age of autism diagnosis is between 4.5 and 5.5 years, but for 51–91% of children diagnosed on the autsim spectrum, concerns in development had been observed before the age of 3
The estimated lifetime cost to care for an individual diagnosed on the autism spectrum is currently $3.2 million
On average, medical expenses for people diagnosed on the autism spectrum are 4.1–6.2 times greater than for those without the diagnosis
